Dr. Iqbal received his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), from Sindh Medical College and then completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai services at Queens Hospital Center in New York. He practiced Internal Medicine for 3 ½ years before doing a Fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas. He also took part in basic and clinical research while at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. His research was focused on inflammatory arthritis.

Dr. Iqbal is Board Certified in Internal Medicine with sub-specialty certification in Rheumatology and is a Fellow in the American College of Rheumatology and a Member of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Iqbal is actively involved in clinical trials and has co-authored several articles.

Talat KheshgiTALAT KHESHGI, M.D.
Dr. Kheshgi has been in private practice at Rheumatology Associates, Dallas, Texas since 2001. She practiced Internal Medicine for two (2) years at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan prior to moving to Dallas.

Dr. Kheshgi received her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), from Rawalpindi Medical College and then completed her internship in Internal Medicine and Surgery at Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi. She then became an instructor of Anatomy at Rawalpindi Medical College. Dr. Kheshgi earned a Master's Degree in Pharmacology for the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio as well as finishing basic requirements for her Ph.D. She then completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Pontiac, Michigan and a Fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, Texas. Dr. Kheshgi is Board Certified in Internal Medicine with sub-specialty certification in Rheumatology and is a Fellow in the American College of Rheumatology.

Her research includes development of assays to detect antibodies in women with endometriosis, studying fatty acid transport across cell membranes as well as studying the effects of various drugs on physiologic function. Her basic research during her residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital won first place at the resident research forum. Dr. Kheshgi has been voted one of the "Texas Super Doctors". ZORAN KUREPAZORAN KUREPA, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr Kurepa joined Rheumatology Associates in August of 2007. He is a Clinical Instructor of Internal Medicine, Division of Rheumatic Diseases at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.

Dr. Kurepa received his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree in Europe from University of Zagreb School of Medicine, Zagreb, Croatia, where he subsequently obtained his Masters Degree in Immunology at the Institute for Immunology in Zagreb. He received his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in immunology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas Southwestern Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. He then completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas/St Paul University Hospital. Before joining Rheumatology Associates Dr Kurepa completed Fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and a member of the American Association of Immunologists.

    Richard L. SternRICHARD L. STERN, M.D.
    Dr. Stern is the newest physician to practice at Rheumatology Associates joining in July of 2003. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, Texas.

    Dr. Stern has undergraduate degrees in psychology, biochemistry, and biology from the University of North Texas. He graduated from the Physician Assistant program at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 1980 and practiced as a Physician Assistant in the field of orthopedics until he went back to medical school in 1994. Dr. Stern received his medical degree from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1998. He then completed an Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Parkland Hospital and the Dallas VA Medical Center followed by a fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He won a fellowship grant to work with Dr. Fredrick Wolfe and Dr. Theodore Pincus studying the Remicade usage patterns in private practice in Dallas for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis which was published in the Journal of Rheumatology.

    Dr. Stern is Board Certified in Internal Medicine with sub-specialty certification in Rheumatology and is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology, American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Association.

He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at UTSMC-University Hospitals-St. Paul.     Dr. Lakhanpal has been in practice at Rheumatology Associates, Dallas, Texas since 1987. He was an investigator at the Metroplex Clinical Research Center in Dallas from 1987 to 1999, and has remained affiliated with the Metroplex Clinical Research Research Center since 1999. After graduating from Colvin Taluqdar's College in Lucknow, India, Dr. Lakhanpal went on to receive his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., B.S.), from the King George's Medical College, University of Lucknow. He received his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Lucknow University and completed his medical residency at the Gandhi Memorial and Associated Hospital, King George's Medical College, in Lucknow. Dr. Lakhanpal also completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Memorial Hospital, University of Massachusetts Medical School and did Rheumatology training at Mayo Clinic and Mayo Medical School in Minnesota.

    Since 1984, Dr. Lakhanpal has held numerous academic positions at the Mayo Clinic and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School where he is Clinical Associate Professor of Internal Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and the American College of Physicians, and is on the editorial board for the Journal of Biological and Chemical Research (India), Journal of Indian Rheumatism Association, and Inside Insight Medical Bulletin. He also serves on the editorial review panel of the Annals of Internal Medicine and the Journal of Rheumatology.

    Dr. Lakhanpal's work in rheumatology and arthritis has been published in over 90 medical journals and newsletters, including New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine and the Journal of Rheumatology. Listed in the Marquis Who's Who in the World Millennium Edition, 2000, his name has appeared in the Best Doctors in America book since 1996. He is a founding Fellow of the American Rheumatism Association and serves on the advisory board of a number of medical committees and societies. Stanley B. CohenSTANLEY B. COHEN, M.D.
    Dr. Cohen is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and in private practice at Rheumatology Associates, Dallas, Texas. He is Associate Director of the Division of Rheumatology at UTSMC-University Hospitals-St. Paul; and is Co-Medical Director of Metroplex Clinical Research Center. Dr. Cohen is actively involved in the teaching of Rheumatology fellows and residents during their clinical rotations in the office.

    Dr. Cohen graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in biology from the University of Virginia and received his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), with honors, from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha. He then completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Dallas, Texas and a Fellowship in Rheumatology at St Paul Medical Center/Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, Texas. Dr. Cohen is Board certified in Internal Medicine with sub-specialty certification in Rheumatology.

    A Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology, Dr. Cohen was Past Chairman of the Board of The North Texas Chapter of The Arthritis Foundation and was honored with the AF Medical Profession Award in 1994. He is a past-President of the American College of Rheumatology Research and Education Foundation from 2000 to 2002 and served on the Board of Directors of The American College of Rheumatology from 2001-2004. Dr. Cohen is presently Secretary Treasurer of The American College of Rheumatology, the Medical Advisory Board of Directors of the Harold C Simmons Arthritis Center at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and member of the UTSWMC CME Executive Committee.

    He has served as a consultant to the pharmaceutical industry on protocol development in rheumatoid arthritis, glucocorticoid induced osteoporosis and disease modification in osteoarthritis, as well as Medical Advisory Boards and Data Safety Monitoring Committees. Dr. Cohen has been an author or coauthor of book chapters, articles and abstracts that have been published in many leading journals and presented at national and international medical and scientific symposia. He also received the Howard C. Coggeshall Lifetime Achievement Service Award from the North Texas Arthritis Foundation in 2006 for longtime support of the Foundation and its programs. Robert JenkinsROBERT JENKINS, M.D., Ph.D.
    Dr. Jenkins is President of Rheumatology Associates and Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine in the Rheumatic Diseases Division at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. At UTSMC-University Hospitals-St. Paul, he has served as an Internal Medicine Attending Faculty Member, and as Assistant Chief of the Rheumatology Division.

    Dr. Jenkins received his medical degree in 1986 from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. During medical school Dr. Jenkins was a pre-doctoral fellow of the NIH sponsored Medical Scientist Training Program, completing a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology in 1984. Dr. Jenkins completed Internship and Residency training at Vanderbilt University Affiliated Hospitals in Nashville, Tennessee, followed by Fellowship training in Rheumatology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. For excellence in research, Dr. Jenkins was named a Senior Rheumatology Scholar by the American College of Rheumatology. As a faculty member, he won grant support from the Arthritis Foundation and the NIH for his work on rheumatoid arthritis. Dr. Jenkins was Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine in the Rheumatic diseases Division at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center from 1992-1996 where he completed his work in on immunologic processes in rheumatoid arthritis and other rheumatic diseases. This work resulted in a number of publications in leading journals, including the Journal of Clinical Investigation. Dr. Jenkins is Board Certified in Internal Medicine with sub-specialty certification in Rheumatology.

    Dr. Jenkins joined Rheumatology Associates in 1996. He has been President of the group since 2002. In that capacity he also serves as Clinical Consultant of the Rheumatology Associates Laboratory as well as Medical Director of the Infusion Center, and Imaging Division. As a Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator at Metroplex Clinical Research Center, Dr. Jenkins has participated in numerous clinical trials that have been instrumental in developing new therapies for arthritis.

    Dr. Jenkins now devotes almost all of his time to patient care. Roy M. FleischmannROY M. FLEISCHMANN, M.D.
    Dr. Fleischmann is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and in private practice at Rheumatology Associates, Dallas, Texas. He has served as Chief of the Division of Rheumatology at UTSMC-University Hospitals-St. Paul, Dallas, Texas since 1978. Dr. Fleishmann is Co-Medical Director of Metroplex Clinical Research Center.

    He received his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in 1969, before completing his residency in Internal Medicine at the Mt Sinai Hospital, New York City, New York, and his Fellowship in Rheumatology at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, New York City, New York.

    He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology. He has served on the Finance Committee of the American College of Rheumatology and the Fund Raising Committee of the Research and Education Foundation (REF) of the American College of Rheumatology. He has previously served on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the North Texas Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. He has been President of the Texas Rheumatism Society and has sat on the Governing Board of the Texas Rheumatism Association. Dr. Fleischmann is an internationally recognized thought leader in the areas of education of other rheumatologists and the development of new medications for the treatment of various forms of arthritis. He has been a consultant to many pharmacological companies in the area of trial design, protocol development and CME development.
