Dr. Iqbal received his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), from Sindh Medical College and then completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai services at Queens Hospital Center in New York. He practiced Internal Medicine for 3 ½ years before doing a Fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas. He also took part in basic and clinical research while at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. His research was focused on inflammatory arthritis.

Dr. Iqbal is Board Certified in Internal Medicine with sub-specialty certification in Rheumatology and is a Fellow in the American College of Rheumatology and a Member of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Iqbal is actively involved in clinical trials and has co-authored several articles.
